Hello All,
The offside headlamp on my Mk3 8v (1995) is full of condensation.
I dont think they can be open and re-sealed, so i'm after a new one.
How much for an original VW headlamp?
Are they easy to remove and fit ? or should i get a garage to do it?
Cheers

Tip for ya matey, I used to do this in my old CRX as it always had the same problem,
Get a G clamp, Put it round the light tight, Obviously not too tight or you will smash the light. Then pop the light in the oven and the glue will melt, Then tighten it up just a smidgen to make all the glue spread, Then pop it back in the oven for a few more mins, Before taking it out and leaving it on a window shelf to cool just like you would a warm cherry pie.
When cool, the entire light should be sealed again. Just remove the G clamp and your away.
(and trust me, You think Mk3s are hard. Im doing a Jetta conversion on a Mk2, And its now my second day and im having to pin the hood n all!)

or LOL.....
put a cloth over the headlamp and leave the lights on for a while till the condensation dissapears ;)

I could drill a little hole in the other one so it gets full of condensation and looks the same. ;D

or go and buy a new one, but not from VW. The original units are Hella and VW will charge you ?90ish for one, I got mine from Euro Car Parts for ?55 delivered next day (Hella). Speak to Stu from Leeds ECP in the Discounts and deals section of the forum.

Hello 8v
Was it easy to fit to headlamp, or do you have to adjust the angle etc...??
-
Onge, it was a piece of p*ss to fit the headlamp. You just take the grill off by prising the clips and then undo the headlamp bolts (4) and pull off the wire. Mine didnt need adjusting but Haynes manual tells you how if you need to.....just park in front of a wall and see or wait for someone to flash you!! ;D ECP also do aftermarket lights for about ?35 but I went for original. Also sawsome on ebay but all wrong side!

Cheers 8V,
I'll give it a go ;D

Fielder, did you have to buy a new slam panel so the lights would fit?
-
LOL dont even go there. I got it cheep of frazier for ?30, Downside being the slam pannel and gril where both pritty damaged, There was no spring on the hood clamp. So after two days of hammering, Swearing and drilling, Its finally done and the hood is held down by GT style bonnit pins and a few cable ties have been used to hold certain things togeather ;D
