hi i have just took my alternator off and got it chromed and i took the wire out from under the bonnet and was going to re do it but now i have lost it so can any 1 tell me wot terminal goes to wot there are 3 spade terminals on the alternator 2 big and 1 small. thanx ian

looking at the bentley wiring diagrams, it would apear the blue wire goes to terminal D+, and the 2 wires left over go on the other 2 terminals, whichever way you like :)

hi thanx mate does one go to the starter motor cos ive got to make a new alternator loom coz i misplaced(lost) the original one and i cant remember were the 2 bis conecors go i no the small 1 out of the 3 go to a wire that comes from behind the battery. i dont think that the one i took off was the original one any way coz the wires were well tightly pulled across the front of the engine i no 1 went to the battery but i dont remenber were the other 1 went and i dont no which 1 goes were. hope that makes sense thanx ian
-
apparently they both go to the starter :undecided:
-
i was told that one went to the starter and one went to the batery
-
doesnt really matter, battery & starter are both linked anyway!

Hi
Alternator
Blue wire to the little terminal on the alternator (as rubjonny says)
2X Red wires to the battery + terminal
Starter
Big thick wire to the big bolt terminal on the starter
Red and ??? wire to the spade connector on the starter
(NOW FOR THE OVER THE TOP BIT, SORRY:) )
IF IN DOUBT, get some one who knows or another car the same spec as yours to copy. IF YOU PHUQ IT UP, and run an un-fuesd link from the battery to an earth point, the very best you hope for is a big arse sparky moment, next level - a buggared alternator, next level - a poped battery, worst case big huge electrical fire, car a shell and battery explodes covering you with acid and damaging what ever gets in its way.
Sorry to be a misserable bastard, but it could happen, I've shorted out enough batteries in my time to keep M&S afloat in pant sales for life.
