Title: KW V2 + ARBs or just KW V2?
Post by: Peskarik on 19 November 2008, 20:34
In the post on strut braces many of you said that as long as you don't race you do not feel any difference.

Same could be said for ARBs, no?
It's stiff springs and pretty thin ARBs or softer springs and thick ARBs.

If I fit KW Version2, and I do not race, do mostly highways and city driving, then ARBs are not that useful. True or not?  :undecided:

....

Aftermarket ARB's are a very great aid to handling, whether on road or track. The whole suspension is a package which includes the ARB's. They reduce body roll and nose-diving. It doesn't make sense to have KW's, or similar, without ARB's.

Thats exactly why I got Eibach ARBs with my bilsteins...  :smug:

It makes sense for many tuners.
I do not see how ARBs reduce nose diving (front-rear weight transfer) at all, that is the job for the springs and dampers.

....

It's the overall dynamics of the WHOLE suspension package which matter - Of which ARB's are a part.

I'm looking into ARBs as well, of course. But our prices are not UK prices. Our prices are higher. I cannot spend ALL my money on my car, my GF would leave me then.

Whats wrong with that?    Imagine all the money you could save by being single again - money that you could spend on more important things like modding the car.

Are ARB's that important? How much thicker are like say Eibachs onese compared to the stock GTI ones? I had Eibach ARB's, dampers n springs all fitted at once. Sure handling and control was much improved, but can't say which part was most responsible for the improvement. If i did it again, i won't fit ARBs (at least Eibach ones) because the damn croaking over speed bumps it makes each time makes my car sound like a X-reg fiesta 1.1LX breeze edition or something.

Sorry to drag this topic back up....

What about fitting aftermarket arbs to standard suspension? Difference? I know it improved the handling in my Scoob :)

I had mine fitted before the Coilies and they made a noticeable difference. Cornered flatter and killed understeer apart from at the limit. Very good mod to do IMHO.

Thought so :)

Needed to confirm as obviously, the Golf isn't 4wd/AWD. (not that this makes any real difference - it's all about chassis)

Probably my 2st mod, along with a panel filter and exhaust ;)
