I know this subject has been covered a few times but I cant help thinking that VW have messed up (again)!
When I was approaching 9k I had a notice on the dash to get it serviced. I thought this was a little soon so got in contact with VW who made me take it back to the dealer and get the service monitor reset to long life service, which I was told it should have originally been set to.
The car is now at 20k (15 months old) and still no sign of a service being required. I would normally trust the long life service thingy but I dont hang around in mine and it usually gets driven quite hard (short journeys).
Just out if interest what type of servicing are you set to and at how many miles did it go in for its first service??? :undecided:

urm i'd get it serviced ASAP!!
and get it changed to 10K or 12 months especially if you're regularly thrashing it
personally i'd never have a car on longlife servicing

I think your car would be best served off of longlife service and on to time/distance servicing.
I would also get the car serviced now.

Thats exactly what I do  First service was at 11k miles with LL Oil and second one at 22k miles with LL Oil.

Think it might be a good idea to get it booked in. Although last time I asked them at the dealers... they said it was ok :undecided:
They really dont have a clue at my local dealers

Here, here - I'd never, ever buy one that has been on that regime as well.
Oil change every 12 months is a must for me - T& D only

When does the car think it needs a service?
Jump in, close door, iginition on and hold down the trip reset button until the computer flicks to the service reminder - will give you a mileage and days remaining
