Want to do that mod for the window switches. I want to do them blue I think.
What MCD LED do you reckon? I don't want them ultra blindingly bright, just want them blue.
-
fiddly job as finding a blue 12v led in 2mm diameter is hard
i had to use 3v led's with a 360 ohm resistor on each one to do it but you also will have to drill out the led bulb holder and run the cable through the light switch housing and then join them to the correct wires outside the swich as there is no way of fitting the resistor inside the light switch
-
This guy did it. (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1766647)
I'm not sure wether to sand the LEDs or not so as to dampen the brightness a little.
-
I used LED's from Maplins, 12v Super bright red ones, my friend wanted to blue and couldnt find blue on their site :(
-
How bright are they?
I though flashing ones might look cool on some buttons, but it'd probably be distracting.

Kells is our led expert and has done all his car with them...pm him or do a search under his project thread

That's really nice. How many LEDs are needed for all the guages like the heat guage? The switches on the gauges, how many needed for them?
Thanks.

And Kells, you still have not let your secret away about how you did the heater dials
-
4 leds for electric mirror switch, early cars need a resisor and late ones dont
2 leds for drivers side electric window switch
1 led for heated rear window switch
1 LED in my rear ashtray (in its Original location - rare)
sh!tloads in my dials not in the original places tho, then 2 per LCD displays, but these differ on early and late spec, mine are late spec, hard to do but i can do it... (they aint normal leds either but early spec ones are just bulbs you can replace the green filters with)
sunroof switch is hard to do (again not normal leds but has 3 of them in it)
heater controls have been subject to alot of work.. especially to get the red bits in each knob...
