Title: MK 4 Headunit Ignition feed
Post by: Ruji on 16 November 2008, 18:53
Hi there. any of u guys ever experienced a loss in power from the ignition switched LIVE from back of the head unit?? Av tested it al with a multimetre and have gota constant LIVE for the permanent feed, but no ignition!? Av also checked every single fuse in th box in both primary n secondary fuse boxes yet they all appear to be fine!
Its actually a mates car am reffering to and av checked the obvious possibilities and have ruled out the fusebox. Only other thing I can think of is perhaps a break in the ignition wire sumwhere along its route where it is being compromised. Was thinking to suggest just to send a fresh wire feed from the back of the fuse box and run it as a replacement to the back of the headunit as a new ignition feed!? Any ideas otherwise???

Cheers!

golfs are prone to developing faults with the ignition switch
although you have not mentioned what model it is as this is not a problem on mk4's

umm...its a TDI as far as am aware..not my car...but a mtesbut hav onli realy got chance to see it recently and apparently its got transmission problems with the loss of its gear shifting ability...possibly the clutch....but that is a different problem anyhow!

wel the looms for the radio don't vary that much with any of the mk 4 golfs and are pretty much the same for most of the other vw and audi models without on board amps and bose systems.
