Knock on the door from the police at 5.30 this morning ...
Someone's stolen the numberplates from my GTi, then terrorised a family up in Croxteth with an Audi S3 (well at least the theives had some taste I suppose), swapped the numberplates for mine, and gone on a bit of a rampage.
Really feel for the family with the Audi, hope the police have got the b@stards.
Right. Off to Halfrauds for some theft proof numberplates, so long as I can find my V5.
-
Do you mean actually physically unscrewed the plates from your car and put them on the Audi or just cloned the plates??
-
I suppose if he has to go to halfrauds to get some theft-proof ones, they had been physically stolen. Otherwise he wouldn't need to replace them.
Unlucky mate but at least they didn't take your car!

Thanks  That photo was taken 20 minutes after I picked up the car from the showroom last year. Since then I have only washed it twice and waxed it twice :embarassed: :embarassed: It has Autoglym Lifeshine applied by the Dealer which was a big mistake as it left swirl marks on the paint after they employed a monkey to do the job. I am going to get it detailed within a month and its going to sit in the garage - I'll be getting another car as a daily driver.
-
I'd be seriously p!ssed off if that happened to me. They didn't damage your car taking them off did they?
-
sorry to hear that, but such is life unfortunately! never heard of theft proof plates before mind, learn something everyday!
-
I think you got off lucky here  You were lucky it wasn't you being terrorised by the nob's!

Hi all -
Sorry for the delay and thanks for your conern.
No - no damage to the car thank God. They were careful to take them off well, as they wanted to reuse them.
Spoke to the police yesterday, he confirmed the stolen car (Audi S3) has been recovered, but my numberplates haven't. Neither have the theives - they're still at large.
So I'm a bit reluctant to park it where it was, at least for a couple of months. Police reckon my car's being watched.
Also - my numberlate is now on the police national computer - I run the risk of getting stopped whenever I go past a traffic car  (what's new you say ) - so am having to carry my V5 etc around with me as proof of ownership.
Ah well - only a pair of numberplates I suppose, but it's unsettled me.
