After letting my 1990 8v White GTI go ten years ago, decided to return, After two years of searching for the "one" just picked up a H reg 16v Oak Green 3 door. It has been in the same family for 17 years and is near perfect.
A few things to solve, slipping power steering belt, passenger electric window has given up and a small bit of rust on the off side lower arch. Totally original and unmodified, will keep it that way and look forward to seeing you at some events.
I live in Kent and heard there might be an event in November at Brands, if anyone has more details I would love to know more.
My Brother runs Full Boost Detailing in Essex and will be applying his handiwork to the car soon and I look forward to posting the results. He can be found at http://fullboostdetail.moonfruit.com if anyone is interested.
Look forward to meeting you all at some point and continue to keep the Mk2 GTI spirit alive!
Thanks Stuart

hello
sounds like quite a late spec run out model u gots there..... was it a bargain?
-
Afraid not, but have been looking for sometime and it wont be a daily...I am unlikely to sell the car so not too concerned about the upfront cost. Just wanted to get one as original as possible, I think the market knows how desirable these old cars are now as there are plenty of people like me who have previously owned them in our "Youth" and want to have one again... The fifth gear show didnt help matters either!!!!
Over the coming years should be a relatively cheap to run future classic. Thanks Stuart

Thanks for the comments, appreciated. I have not got much planned, originality will be key...however I will refresh the suspension etc, so will be looking for some advice.
I needs a good service and detail, then I will tuck it away for the winter months.

Cheers! Tiny bit of rust in front of the rear arch, apart from that it is pretty sound.
Thanks for the warm welcome all.
