where can you find one? ebay dont seem to have them

I got mine off eBay from a UK, not a German seller ... a week or so ago there were quite a few people selling 'copied' chips - but they seem to have vanished.

Either they were snapped up quick or someone has cottoned on!

http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ sell a chip for ?150 and I think it originated from BBR.

That's the most I think anyone should every pay as people like Superchips rip you off! OK for a turbo application there's alot more to gain, so u can justify the money; but ?300 for a NA engine is a bit steep!

check these guys out, I think they do a chip for about ?100-110

They are rebuilding my supercharger next week so will report back on them.

Looks good Gav and that SNS chip is rather tastey - read about it elsewhere ... but anyone reading this thread PLEASE remember the software for a supercharged lump will be different to a standard GTi lump as they work in very different ways!

The fuel lean out they talk about is from people using NA based chips on supercharged engines. With the charged air at high revs the ammount of fuel needed is far more than a NA engine. (Hope that makes sense !)

Well providing they can give you some pucker info on what the chip does then go for that.

All it should be doing is removing the 'Digi' lag by pulsing it's 'variables' at much more frequent intervals, and then add a more aggressive fuel and timing map for high octance fuel.

You'll only see an increase of 5 -10 bhp, usually around 7 for a stock engine - more if it's modded as the new settings will have a bigger impact; and when I say modded I mean head work / cams etc not a Peco and K&N !

The biggest difference is in the drivabilty - much crisper throttle responce and a nice power / torque curve will see you grinning :)

Before you spend yor money don't be afraid to ask questions of the seller! See if they know what they're actually talking about first ... last thing you want is to end up with a dodgy transistor chip that really does feck all !

Hope this helps ....

hello matey - afraid not - unless you fancy taking your ECU apart there's no way to tell. Even then unless the chip has some obvious markings you probably couldn't tell.

I'm not too hot on G60's but along with the chip you normally have the pulley on the charger changed to increase boost levels - any obvious signs that there's fancy coloured pulley on your charger??

Any other G60 owners able to offer any other suggestions ?? Hope that helps matey ...  ;)

as the man says, the size of the pulley is usually changed at the same time as a chip swap. by reducing the size of the pulley you spin the charger more, creating greater pressure = more power. the downside is greater wear on the charger. A 71mm pulley is a sensible reduction, 68mm is usually the norm in going for big power gains. 65 or even 63mm are available if you are a) mad or b) like rebuilding the charger often :)

hhhmmm... there's a carbon fibre cover over the pulley that I haven't taken off yet, will have a look under it and see. is a carbon fibre cover a standard item?

how do the measurements work on the pulley is it full diameter?

cheers fellas

Gav

Carbon Fibre is definately not standard VW! Get that digi cam out and get us some more pictures of under the bonnet - preferable not with you slabbering all over the charger too ;)

As for the dimensions it'll either be diameter or radius - I'd say radius as 60 odd millimeters with 2 or 3 mm increase seems too small.

lol ... listen to you !!!

Are these saftey measures to make sure no more peskey 8valves give you a shock ?? :)

Also, how come you moved from getting a conversion done to buying a compete car? I'm still looking in to a G60 conversion for mine - just planning how to raise the funds!

Damm right.. no more embarrassing country road moments for me  :)

I was gooing to get a conversion, but started to think about the final value of the car, I reckon a mint original g60 will be worth more than my 16v with the new block in it, and to be honest, although it cleaned up well, there were a few bits about that car that really niggled me.

p.s. don't get a g60 dave, I'll have to get a 20v turbo then.....

lol .. your save for a year or so matey!

I'm really looking at a performance / ??? with this as I couldn't afford 4 or 5 grand for a good G60, but 2 grand on a conversion added to my clean shell with my current mods would see a nice finished car.

You'll have to take me for a spin and give me more insentive to get saving !!!

no worries mate!

I'll be down your way soon and we'll go for a blast. Always loved the straight down by shoreham powerstation with that wicked little switchback...

saw a bloody g60 engine for sale yesterday, can't f**king remember where though.... might even have been on here!
