how do i find this out, i have a 1997 8v gti on a 'p' plate. can i ring vw and give them my vin number and they'll tell me?

Think that should be an AGG.

Just lift up the bonnet and look on the plate on top of the grill, mine says on there.

most probs is an 'agg' engine.

u can also ckeck on your v5 logbook, it will say on there

1996 P 8v here with an AGG - yours will be too.

Think the sticker on the boot floor would say this (along with the paint code etc)
