is the "operating division" the place of manufacture?

In that case I have a real 'wolfsburg edition'!

also interesting as it made me look through old MOT certificates to get the VIN, turns out a couple of times mechanics have pretty much just put whatever numbers/letters came into their head!

Just done this for both of mine, both from Wolfsburg  :smiley:

But my 89 reg has L which = 1990

is this model year?

Yep, first registered November 89 in the UK.

It is 90 spec though, big bumpers, rainbow seats, narrow side strips etc.
