Title: timing belt interval

bought my first car today :) when is the next timing belt need puting on its done 169000 km? its a 1997 or 1996 white 3 door golf

If you don't know when it was last done then do it straight away.
Otherwise i would do it every 40/50k miles or every 5 years.
Remember to change the tensioner (and water pump if driven by timing belt) at the same time.
