Hi people, i've got a Mk2 golf with a 2.0 litre 16v ABF lump in it all done my self!
was just wondering if anyone knows anywhere i can get a up-rated head gasket! had the first headgasket in there approx 1000miles and it went between the one of the bores and water ways now 1000miles on and the second one has gone between 3 and 4 cylinders!!!!! i've had the head and the block checked and there all ok! just need an uprated gasket i think!!! lol
help plzzz

Did you torque the head bolts in the correct sequence?

The standard VW headgasket for the abf is more than capable and has a very good reputation for been the gasket to use on modifyed enignes, 300+hp 16vt motors are useign that gasket without issue

agreed, if you're blowing metal gaskets you're doing something wrong! Have you had the head checked for flatness?

The head has been torqued down correctly! all new bolt as they are strech bolts!!!!
The head is been skimmed and crack tested 2day, will just have to re-fit and try again! only takes and hour 2 get the head off so not like it is a hard job! lol

and beavis, price me up a head gasket thn m8!! haha nice n cheap trade price please ;) need inlet and exhasut gaskets aswell ;)
