Title: 20k miles later....
Post by: Mr Lees on 11 November 2008, 18:45
So ive had the GTI for nearly 2 years now, and 20,000 miles have passed.
previous cars started with saxo VTS (sorry), then MK1 clio sport, then MK2 clio sport, then 2004 civic type R, the BMW 320d ( re-mapped), all in about 4 years.
am i thinking of changing the golf,, not likely!!  , still think its the dogs dinner, looks good, goes well, doesnt cost an arm and a leg to run , no rattles, great handling, no problems, big enough to fit family in (5 door), comfy on M1 commute, hoot on the non M1 commute!.

No its not as fast as an Escort.. sorry Focus ST or VXR, but way better!

Downsides: wife likes driving it!, needs a bit of oil between services and the dunlop crap maxx tyres ( gone!) were pants,,,,, oh and I wish I had waited a bit longer and got an ED30,, hay ho!
will take something special to get me out of it... perhaps the dodge challenger off Top gear on sunday!!

It's been three months of ownership for me and I still love my car. And my heart still palpitates when I hit the go pedal!

Good to hear you still love your motor

it is similar here too. 20 months is the longest I have kept a car for the last 8 years

Cant agree more. The best part of the day is always the drive home. Second best part is drive to work obviously :undecided:

I never really understood why people modded their cars before.. but I think Im starting to understand that it adds a little bit more excitement everytime you do something...

Myself and almost the whole family(mainly my doing) have cars within the VAG group.

Think I have the best of the bunch in the ED30.

What a car
