Title: CL - 8V
Post by: Fielder5757 on 31 May 2004, 00:17
Ive already done a lot of work to my CL and I wouldnt mind dropping a 8V lump into it, Problem is im not sure on a few things:

A) who could do the swap for me
B) how much (approximatally)
C) What differences are there between a GTI and a CL? Any suspention differences i should know about or anything like that?

Thanks folks ;)

Down south, Near watford and luton, Junction 9 of the M1

I have a rally back box and 8V piping on the exhaust, oh and a custom made Carb. We could Video tape it......and risk being labled as the boy racers of the forum  ;)

Although ive heard that drivers do 60 in 10.2, and MK3 8v do it in 9. Maybe with a full system, air filter and if stick an 8v cam in it, may not be the slowest  :D

i think you should get a gti fielder,

start your project properly on one of those, 8valve or 16, just think of the possibilities! 8)

fielder put a 8v gti cam in your engine, a weber carb and a 1.8 bottom end exhaust etc and it will be ok.

or buy a gti

To get 1.8 Litres , you just need to change the pistons and crank from a 1.8 block, and put them in your 1.6 block. As the blocks are actually the same.
