Title: Burn baby burn!

A few times (after warm up), I've accelerated harshly from say 30 mph up to 60mph say, bringing the revs into the high side (but not near the red line) before changing gear. Anyway, after/during hard acceleration I notice this "heat" wafting in through the vents. Not particularly strong but noticeable. Also can smell a "burning" type smell. Each time I've had the window down so dunno if it's from the outside or what.



Is this normal?

Definitely not normal. Get yourself down to the dealers to get it looked at ASAP. You cannot be too careful when it comes to an issue like this. :smiley:

Lol.

Turns out that even though the heating is turned off, you still get warm air coming in through the vents. I drove round today with the fan controls turned to min, had them on for a good few mins, turned it off and went for  a drive. You still got cold air wafting in through the vents.

Maybe I'm pushing the car so hard it's forcing air through the vents?

I get this of the line when I "ride" the clutch a little too much to stop wheels spinning. Don't know much about clutches but could yours need adjustment? I had another car that when accelarating harshly when the clutch was old would send out a smell of burning clutch. I don't know if VW clucthes are somehow self adjusting. My two cents or pence worth!

I didn't notice the burning smell this time either. I sometimes 'ride' the clutch too but never got a burning smell from that. Only when having to accelerate harshly.

Will try it again later but I'm in Brum at mo and you need eyes in all directions to prevent accidents.

These two combined are a recipe for disaster :shocked:
