Quick question, will a lift pump from an 88 spec valver fit a 90 spec one?

physically yes it will, but the plug on the top is different, pre-90 is 3pin, post is 4. You might be able to take the actual pump off the bottom and swap to your old housing, but the pumps themselves did chage. Not sure if it was just the filter that changed or the actual way it fits to the lifter houisng? You could chop off and splice a 3 pin plug on there, but tbh if it was me I'd give it a miss and get the right pump. Oh and you can buy the actual fuel pump on its own too!
