Just had a call from local VW dealer offering to carry out an End of Warranty inspection on my Gti - with the intention of rectifying any warranty claim problems before it expires!
Do any of you guys have any experience of this and its usefulness?
The other thing is she mentioned my cars warranty expires on 3rd Jan 08 - but im 99% sure my log book has the date of registration as 30/11/05 (cant check as im at work) - I did mention this to her and she double checked on the VW database and she again said it was definately 3rd Jan 08!?! Should I be worried?

Makes sense. Just hope it doesn't come back from the dealer in worse condition than it arrived
-
Maybe there hoping somethings wrong to bump up their profits
-
the dealer I was in the other day was very quiet, so I guess they need to drum up business these days!
-
Yep I'd say workshops are quiet so they are 'touting' for work.
A good thing for the customer IMHO.
-
at least its good for the customer for once
-
Or maybe they are dragging you in to sell ya a new one...
-
VW Dealer...."Yes Mr Wolfie the car is spot on....no problems at all"
VW mechanic....earlier to Dealer...... "What do you want me to loosen off on this GTI then boss?"
Not that I'm cynical or anything
-
Hmmm - a few mixed/cynical responses there! I ve bitten the bullet anyway and taken them up on their free offer! and booked it in for next saturday morning so I can be there to oversee it.
The differences in the dates are that the date of manufacture was 1/12/05 and hence due an MOT from 1/12/08 and the date of 03/01/06 on the VW database is the date they sold and registered it so the warranty expires on 03/01/09 !!
I will report back next week on their findings?!? and whether they're actually covered by the warranty! not being cynical or owt hurdy!
-
why dont you wait until nearer when the warranty is due to run out, say mid december?
-
Funny you should say this my car went in today to have the headlights re-aligned and the service guy was pointing out things which could be sorted under warranty if I said to him they were an issue. They are obviously looking for warranty work to keep the tech's busy!
