Title: chipping a 16valve
Post by: GavG60 on 28 May 2004, 09:40
Right,

I've got a 91 16v, Kjet so it's mechanical fuel injection. This means I cant chip it.

However i was in Sanspeed last week getting rolling road tune (coming for you hawkins!!!! ;))

the guys there said they could chip the ignition timing? nearly ?300 but apparently gives a bit more oomph.

Anybody had this done? know anyone who's had it done?

Cheers G

(continuing the quest for more speed on a budget ;D)

hello mate,

got lights at inters  ;) had a pit team consisting of Vaughn (gti89) and Rich (Richandhazel) fixing everything I bought onto the motor in the car park ;D cross hairs were ?99. grill was ?25.

Company is Sanspeed in BexleyHeath. They've been around for ab out 25yrs, the owner's been into rallying for years, knows his motors really well.

They didn't give me an exact bhp increae, but were taling aprox 10bhp gain.... got 137 on the rolling road as it is, with K&N filter and Remus exhaust. ;D

the only thing i know about is the k-star module which stops the car pinking when your not running it on 98RON, but as we have got optimax now just use that ;)

yup, talked to them about K-star, they stopped making them when optimax became more available because there was no demand.....

You got 137 at the wheels and still lost to an 8v :)

Maybe mines a bit quicker than I give her credit for ... If you still on the hunt for power remember twin DCOE's will be quite easy to stick on your valver.

You'll get that gorgeous rasp and anything up to 30bhp with a few other odds and ends.

Mild head work - cams - DCOE's with the stuff you already have and 170 bhp should be easily on the cards.

God I can hear the  'plastic fantastic' quivering already ;)

ps. You coming to VW Action Gav? Or out posing in the MX5  ;D

didn't think it would take long for you to chip your ten pence worth in.....

how come you get to perform evil knievel style antics all over the dual carriageway and it gets forgotten. I buy a measly old golf for a few quid and you get to humiliate me in public for the next ten years.... ;D
