Title: Mk2 towbar
Post by: bundy on 29 October 2008, 23:06
is it going to be a right bast to take the towbar off my mk2, or will it just be unbolt and cut a couple of wires?

Unbolt and disconnect wires might be better.  The bumper bar should bolt up on four bolts that would usually secure the bumper irons.

If you're selling it without the bar the issue may be that without the towbar there's no way of securing the bumper......

usually its just 4 bolts into the bumper iron, easy.  On my GTI someone drilled 4 holes through the boot floor, and dropped long bolts through with a nut either side of the towbar to secure it.  All that becasue the towbar didnt have any captive nuts on!  Obviously drillign holes is easier than spot welding some nuts to the bumper iron
