M.O.T failure today on the following......
Offside front headlamp aim too low
Nearside rear sub-frame rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement
Offside rear sub-frame rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement
Offside rear / rear brake binding
Offside rear / rear brake recording little or no effort
Centre exhaust has major leak of exhaust gases
Nearside rear road wheel distorted
so if the is anyone out the wanna do this work to get through the mot for little or nothing i would be most happy
mechanic quoted me £160+parts for rear bushes
but didnt quote me for rear caliper
is this a fair price ?

doesn't sound too bad, why so upset?
-
upset cos misses car was serviced and m.o.t'ed yesterday and bill was £533.08p so funds are low

Only way to save is DIY mate. Get your hands dirty.

At least it aint rusty. Just showing its age a little. Like as has been mentioned, dig out your overalls and sort out what you can. The headlamp aim is a bit picky though. The examiner could have done that himself. Would have taken 10 seconds.

Its only nuts and bolts and none of the stuff mentioned is rocket science either. Just abit time consuming.

rear subframe bush > ummm wishbone, 2 new wishbones , refurbed rear brake calliper and a wheel. probs best of getting the wheel from scrappie and veewserices will be able to sort you wishbones and calliper at very reasonable rate i shoudl think

Get a pair of the later mk3 calipers. Put an add in the wanted section i'm sure someone will have some. much more reliable too
