Post by: christomk3gti on 29 October 2008, 11:39
Hi, I'm after getting some nice 17" alloys, hopefully deep dish for my Black Golf mk 3 GTI

what does low offset mean? will it mean the wheels stick out slightly?

If anyone knows of some nice alloy wheels, then let me know, i'm after some forr bout 400quid with tyres.

thanks in advance :-)

The bigger the ET number the more they'll tuck in, the smaller the number the more they'll poke out!

Loads of nice rims about, look in the for sale section or ebay. Depends what you want. With regard to the offset look for something approx 30-35mm. Im on 22mm with a 8" wide rim and its a bit teet.

I dont think youll have probs on full lock but they will catch, mine are 8's wide but only 16's. they are 7.5's but 17's. They will go on but you will get some arch scrubbage.

I can see what you mean, but would i only get the arch scrubbage if i lower the car?
At the moment, the golf is on standard gti springs n shocks, will it still scrub.
I dont like the idea of any scrubbage like :(

If your not gonna lower it then you should be ok. Cant beat a bit of scrubbage.

haha, Does anyone on here have their golfs on ET20 offset 17" wheels? if u do, can u show me some pics of how they would look, and how much they would actually stick out. (or any websites with golfs on these offset wheels)

I know its bit crappy asking, just the wheels i want are sooo nice and cheap :) and i like the idea of the wheels sticking out abit, its eurostyle :P

It will fail, but looking at mine it maybe wont stick out, flush with the arch maybe. Get some TT comps, classic rim.

You will struggle like hell to get 17"s in et20 to fit, mine were et35 and the caught on both the front and rear arches.
