In Stoke-on-Trent, stereo (kenwood) needs coming out and wiring up properly, plus 2 door speakers and 2 speakers to be mounted in the parcel shelf and big sub in the boot.
If you can help, beer, food, drugs, money all offered lol!

It's not that hard, basic GCSE level science should cover the amount of wiring involved in plumbing this lot into a MKII Golf. The worst part is removing and refitting trim to route the cables.

If I tried to do it myself, armed with a screwdriver, cigarette and can of beer, what is the percentage chance that I would kill myself in the process?
-
You wouldn't kill yourself unless you drank the beer, felt a bit tipsey, tripped over your fag packet and impaled your eye with the screwdriver puncturing your brain and therefore killing yourself.
More likely you will end up drunk and with a pile of bits of golf interior and a short temper.

speakers and sub wiring is a piece of piss. if you can't do something like that yourself then you will seriously struggle with your mk2 ownership, when things inevitably start to go wrong.
-
Just checking I won't die in the process.
Issue - The Kenwood CD player I have in won't come out and I don' hve any keys. Any ideas? Tried a screwdriver lol.

Long thin metal skewers for kebabs. Always work wonders for me.

hacksaw blades down both sides.
or kebab skewers as above

Good idea! Where are the catches roughly?
-
in the side about half way up. you could have had it in and out by now.
-
normally dead centre each side about halfway down the chasis of the headunit.
Push in whatever you want to use and keep pushing them in until you can pull the headunit out.

parcel shelf speakers are the easiest to wire up just disconnect the standard rear speakers connect the wires to the 6x9's and front door speakers are a little bit more tricky if unless u can get the dash mounted ones out connect to them and run through the grommets in the doors and fitting a sub is just a pain in the ar$e doe a first time running the power through the bulkhead
