OK car is in for coilover fitting on Friday i have a couple of questions to ask. :smiley:
If i measure the gap from the centre of the wheel to centre of the arch it is different on the front from what it measures on the back i have forgotten what it measures and the car is in the garage out of the rain at the moment but anyway i remember the back is lower than the front by a couple of cm :smiley:
Now is this called the rake i.e. what is the correct terminology for the stance of the car and more importantly does this gap difference between the front and back of the car play an important role and does it have to stay the same for example if i lower it an inch all round then measure the gap the back will still be lower is this correct. :smiley:

best looking stance is to have the same gap all round which is what i have done, car just looks so much better if its all the same :cool:

Rake is back higher than front. So your has reverse rake as standard.
As to the best stance? Which ever settings you prefer.

Yes i am, i agree with Joe it looks better the same all round but as you say VW must do this for a reason thats why i posed the question :smiley:

In my current discussions with VWR about my suspension, I have learnt that the rear setup as stock has some adjustability - Via the top mounts IIRC.
Btw, TC, KW V2 is what we are probably going to use.

ive lernt that the top mounts are removable and will drop a std car about 10mm at the back, when putting aftermarket susspension on, the std mounts are still used. mine are taken out to get it even lower at the back.
i think this is right as this is what awesome told me when they fitted and adjusted the set up :smiley:

are you taking your car on track days?? or are they for cosmetic reasons? (like me) or just fast road use? if cosmetic then go with what looks best obv :cool:

....Unfortunately I can't ask until later next week when the VWR guys come back from racing. Personally, I wouldn't be primarily led by 'cosmetics' regarding anything to do with suspension - Factor cosmetics in but don't let it be the primary consideration. But ETTO of course and that's just my opinion.

Who is fitting them? Why not see what they have to say? Or what about asking the guy at Whiteline - I think he knows a bit about suspension.

Yeh i know what you mean but i would rather get it set when they fit them to be honest adjusting the dampening is a piece of cake i will be doing that depending on were i am driving but adjusting the height is a wheels off job :drool:

I am sure the chaps at votex will know best but if i go in forearmed i can tell if they no what they are talking about and they may just take that extra bit of care on set up.
I have heard nothing but good things about them any how so all is good :smiley:
