Remove valves, replace with copper pipe, or Golf3 hoses.
Oh and use the search.

First guess would be you've got a big air lock. As Diamond said theres loads on here about that, e.g. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=33252.0

also have you flushed the hoses out witha hose pipe?
mine didn't work in my driver and some crap had crystalised and stopped the warmth going to the blower
-
i have had a hose pipe on matrix but not on the pipes, i will also by pass the valves i have already changed them but will give it ago and see how i get on
-
i have just taken the valves out now and replaced with pipe and still no heat, its slighty better when revving at about 2 rpm i get luke warm heat and on idle i get none, any more advise on this please? cheers

Flush the heater matrix and the radiator with a hose.
Your thermostat might be stuck open. What's the engine temperature doing?
-
Try a new/different matrix?
-
have replaced thermostat already, when i was bleeding it up, bottom rad pipe always stayed cooler, then the thermostat opened and the pipe got hot and fan cut in so i know thats working fine temp gauge reads 1/4 driving and when stopped it goes to 1/2
-
airlock maybe  had this after a stat change .
re- bled the system ( good guide in the MkII section ) and jobs a good 'un

Replacing the water pump and thermostat sorted my heating out!
So glad it wasn't the *spits* heater matrix!
