I've seen that most people on here prefer this rather than a chamois leather but I'm just wondering if there's any difference between an expensive one compared to a cheapo one?
I've seen this on on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Waffle-Weave-Drying-Towel-Blue_W0QQitemZ120313023733QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120313023733&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Waffle-Weave-Drying-Towel-Blue_W0QQitemZ120313023733QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120313023733&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
Also, are these different to a normal microfibre cloth - I've got loads of those already!

I bought a couple of Miracle Dryer Ultra 2000 somethingorother drying towel. They're basically thicker MF cloths.
A lot of hardcore detailers don't "wipe" the surface dry. They place the towel on the surface and then pat it down, so there's no wipe marks. I find they hold a helluva lot of water compared to normal MF cloths and this isn't just down to a larger size.
I now prefer these to the standard Tesco £1 MF cloths I used to buy.

You get what you pay for the better one's either hold more water (as StealthWolf said), are plusher, or longer lasting, or all of the above.
I have a few expensive ones for drying and buffing, and cheapo one's for the other jobs.

try a birdseye potato waffle, they're the business.

Well, they ARE "versatile".

Grilling, baking, frying or eating them may result in injury, and is not reccomended by GolfGTI.co.uk

I hate my Megiuars (sp?) waffle weave cloth. It's rubbish at soaking anything up.
I bought some cheap MF cloths from online, about 4 quid each for large ones, and they are tons better than the waffleweave ever was. I feel ripped off spending a tenner on it!

your right the maguire is not the best i bought some auto glym aqua wax it comes with 2 cloths one to dry the car one to polish it these are A1 for both
-
i got a meguirs one of these, dry my whole car without ringning it out from dry!

Try MotorGeek for Cobra Drying Towels, just as good as the Sonus.
I also started a thread posting links to a company doing cheap MFs & Drying Towels.

buy once, use often - get some Sonus, Der Wunder waffle weave towles, about 14-16 of your engerlish pounds. Try laying the towel and patting dry rather than draging the towel over the surface.
These are top notch

I ended up getting my Dad a Sonus Der Wunder towel that cost £8 from eBay - it was huge as well at 24" x 30". I'm yet to try it but he loves it. Saying that the last time I washed my car I ended up using just a normal microfibre cloth and it did the job perfectly well.

I also have one because of this thread - absolutely love it

It depends on how much your willing to pay.
I would also look at the Cobra Guzzler from MotorGeek, I use these plus the sonus at work and the cheap yellow waffle towles for drying the door edges etc (the same as RaceGlazer but much cheaper!
But I would buy the cheap ones and wrap around the mirrors (use an elastic band to secure) to catch the drips!
