Title: oil from breather- mk2 driver
Post by: 2pac on 23 October 2008, 20:13
hi
due to oil coming out of the breather i fitted a new rocker cover from gsf.
at first it looked fine and dry but after 7 weeks i noticed today there was still oil in the breather and filter box.
i did revved the engine several times till the red mark, so can this cos' oil force out even though the breather is clear?
thx

let me get this right.

You redlined the car to check if oil went up to the breather system? niiiiice :huh:

oil in airbox is normal, obviously not normal if theres 3l of it in there but aslong as the filter doesnt get blocked and the airway is clear your fine.

Just dont redline the engine to check if oil goes to the airbox for the love of god!

drive them hard you get oil in the filter box  FACT.        cranck case gasses are recirculated into the carb from the breather and they carry oil mist that drop out  and collects,   then goes down ther carb at some point.   if working the enigne hard or it's worn you'll get more blowby than normal hence more oil in airbox
