Title: steering wheel colum help
Post by: Deefadog on 26 May 2004, 12:42
Hi all, are the steering wheel colum spine the same on a Mk2 (D reg) 8V as an Mk2 (G reg) 16V?

I want to put my snap off stering wheel on my new car :)

Cheers

I think it will be the same an all MK2s.
Just try it. If it fits it fits ;)

The earlier golfs have smaller spines than the later golfs.

If it,s the small diam spline, the addapters are available from vw. part no 191 419 514 and 1H0 419 667 for the spring. Found this problem on a 89 1.3.
you have to remove orrigional lock washer, spring and collor before re fitting with the new bits.
hope this helps
