Title: mk5 bumper on a mk3 and a porsche alloy question
Post by: hightower on 23 October 2008, 07:53
hi all

my workmate emailed me this last night he`s like me owns a gti mk3 after i was talking to him about the possibility of changing my bumpers.

I honestly don`t know what i think about the bumper looking from the piccy it`s not bad erm io don`t know opinions please also i guess this would require an alternative headlight set up

oopss before i forget how easy is it to adapt porsche alloys to a vw golf mk3 and is there a max size to got to
reason there is a set of 4 carrera alloys for sale at a breakers near me no tyres

the sizes are fronts 7.5 x 18 and the rears are 10 x 18 the et is 65 and pcd of 130 would theses fit a standard golf at the moment.

that bumper looks seriously weird to me but each to their own and all that! :)

10" wide wheels on a standard mk3? not a hope! obv need pcd adapters to actually get them to bolt up but after that it would be some pretty serious arch work to get those on :)

My porsche wheels are 8x16 and used to catch a little on the back with the ET at 22. Even with the slimest adaptors you would probably hit the inner arch aswell.

You will need adaptors which ever porsche wheel you go for, they are easy to get hold of though. Check the for sale section for porsche wheels etc.

i dont think that bumper looks too bad and im not normally into that sort of thing, not sure it would look right against the angular lines of the car though, put me down as undecided.i presume they do a matching rear bumper.

My Mk2 gti is running 35mm drop with 15" Porsche teledials on 20mm adaptors without problems.

I have seen 10x17 on a mk3 but 18"s never fit to be honest

i had 9x18's on a mk3 with coilovers wound right down and had no problems what so ever 10's would be a squeeze tho :D

that bumper i was looking at when i had my 1.4 i think it looks okay but needs bad boy bonnet to pull it off! its just where the arches meet the bumper that looks weird!
