my car wont start when the ignition is turned. the fuel pump charges up, but there is nothing going on when you turn the key to the start engine position. is this the ignition coils fault?
-
when was the last time it started?
-
last night.
i thought it might be the barrell come loose cos i changed it but thats ok, im thinking its the coil cos i listen to the radio with the ignition engine off quite a bit and a mate burnt is coil doing this.
its nothing to do with battery/alternator
??? ???
-
does it turn over?
i dont think its the coil.
I used run on a rubbish battery and after a few minutes of audio play, the car would not even turn over.
Try jump starting it first ???
-
it wont jump start :'(
the battery is good
-
how do you mean exactly mate? does the engine turn and not fire, or does it not turn at all?
-
ok i have multimetered everything and theres no power getting to the starter motor. so its either the ignition switch or the wire.
-
anyone know how to get the ignition switch out?? i have got the lock barrell out, does it push out the back of the housing?
-
ok sorted now.
it turned out to be the lock barrel itself ???
the end bit which turns the ignition switch was worn!!!! its only abpout 4 months old!!! oh and if you havent guessed i bought the lock set from gsf >:(
its got the patern lock with the original veedub barrel now
