Just got this and I am already doing my bit with Shell (although Optimax is a lot more pricy! :-\)
Doing my bit - Now you do yours!
We are going to hit close to 89p a litre by the summer. ant petrol
prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.
Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil
companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an
inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p -80p, we need to
take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each
day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to
see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket
by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting
ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two
biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are
not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow
suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of
Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't
whimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how
simple it is to reach millions of people! I am sending this note to
a; lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x
10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =
3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth
generation of people, we will have reached over THREE
MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this
on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been
contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE
HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10
people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that
take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one
day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted
within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had
that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a
difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE
Action:
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your
petrol at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons (75p)Jet etc. i.e.
boycott BP and Esso.
Come guys, we can make a stand here!
-
Got this email as well so the information seems to be spreading already. I'll be using Morrisons from now on I think !
-
Hey Martz, seen this e-mail at work the other day, I never buy from esso or bp anyway and I'm just about to start trying Shell optimax when I run my tank down far enough. :D
Not sure if this will actually work but it's worth a try.
-
I'll be using Morrisons from now on I think !
I wouldn't recommend using the supermarket petrol and I'm sure a few people on here will agree with me. ???

i hate supermarket fuel with a passion! >:( have to find a shell garage!

I appriciate the concern, but as petrol prices are forced to go down so do my wages as the oil companys take the brunt. It should be tax of petrol that is reduced which is the same for all stations I work hard on oil refineries and its a dangerous job. I do admit that prices are too high but thats the governments fault. You pay more from BP and places because they have better fuel. BP are making the cleanest fuel in the business at the moment, this has cost millions of pounds in reserch and a new part of the refinery at corrington has had to have been built in consequence. Please dont boycott BP, they also pay the highest wages of any oil companys in the buisness, this is where your extra 2 or 3p goes.
Keep me in a job.
-
Everyone go buy optimax!! U have even more of an incentive now!!! ;D
-
am i the only one thinking that shell might be behind this e mail?? :o
-
optimax! i can only use that when i get a pay rise! :'(
-
am i the only one thinking that shell might be behind this e mail?? :o
Probably Vix, cos you're smarter than us lot ;D
You cynic ! ;)
-
This really is a great idea. I have been running the golf solely on optimax for close to a year now, and when I use my SAAB it will get anything cheap as long as its not BP or ESSO.
Viva la Revolution!
-
Im only a contractor out to BP, sometimes i get contracted out to shell at stanlow, so as long as you buy BP or shell then im a happy bunny ;D. We cleaned out the Optimax lines about a month ago on the last shutdown so the fuel batch coming through now should be extra clean. ;D ;D.
-
Too right!!
-
BP supply Sainsbury, and I've got a feeling Esso are in contract with Tesco at the moment so that aleviates one of the issues with supermarket fuel
-
its all well blaming the govenment about fuel tax, i agree they take the lions share of the fuel cost. but whenever the price of a barrel of oil goes up the oil companys seems eager to put up fuel prices, but they dont seem to be as quick to lower them again when the price of oil falls again
