Title: Oem Bluetooth Handsfree installed
Post by: Saint Steve on 19 October 2008, 15:42
Have to say once again, a thankyou to vRStu for my latest purchase. Had it installed to the car today, and what a great bit of kit, and well worth the money, I would say if your thinking about getting a decent Handsfree system, forget the Parrot, get the Vw OEM version. Works a treat with the Multifunction Wheel and Highline Computer/Mfd2 sat nav. Voice Recognision for your Phonebook along with having your phonebook displayed on the Cars Dashboard!!. Fitted in under 2hours and a couple of cups of Luvlly coffee later.

Has pushed the need to get an RNS510 alot sooner next year, as they are already down to below £750 and dropping as availability has resumed from the Manufactures.

Been meaning to ask about this as I am getting seriously hacked off with my parrot. What if you dont have the mfsw?? or the highline display?

How do you access your phone book etc?? Do have RNS510.. would it display options on there?

Daft Question where does it all fit?

The control unit fits under the drivers seat and then a cable runs up to the Head Unit. The Mic fits in the panel by the interior lights.

Edit - Sorry Phil didn't see your post.

Here the an example of the display for this kit on the RNS-510

You basicaly get a home screen with 6 speed dial buttons and with some handsets it will show the network name, battery level and signal level

Also you can then open a touchscreen keypad plus access to phonebook, dialed numbers, missed calls, etc.

and sits under the drivers seat like so.......

Basically you get Sat Nav women talking to u with you telling her the number to do or it records your voice in playback from your Cars Phone contacts list.

Great bit of kit, and theres no cradle to show you have this kit. My phone was in the kitchen and the Kit still picked up via Bluetooth to make a call!.

Uses the Star button on the MFSW and telephone button to make/accept/cxl calls.Volume controls on the wheel also work the telephone sound via the cars 10 speakers so to make a call at ANY speed is never a problem not being too quiet etc.

Stu was (a while back) doing the cruise at a very good price, less than the dealers anyway

I think Phil's is the euro Skoda one (like mine and Coco's) unless Stu has started using a different one  :undecided:

Its the same part, theres nothing on the unit at all saying Skoda?. It may well be, cus this unit is not sold in the uk as an option, whether its just skoda that offer this kit and hense why Stu stocks those.

Post by: CocoPops on 19 October 2008, 18:25
Yep, mine is the Skoda one.
Stu must have changed the one he fits... I think the only difference is the voice dialing? I dont think I can do that.

Mine's skoda one and I can do the voice dialing, so I think you just need to code the various buttons on the MFSW  :nerd:
Title: Re: Oem Bluetooth Handsfree installed
Post by: Saint Steve on 19 October 2008, 18:28
i can voice dial, and also tell the car what numbers to dial which is a nice touch. The womens Voice is the same as my Mfd2 dvd sat nav, whether she is employed by Vw and not a skoda worker!!

By pressing the Star Button on the Steering wheel....
i can say, " dial Number", it then says number Please and then it repeats your commands then dials, or you can use your Voice Recorded Phone book.

Ahh ok, I don't have the MSFW so, hence no Voice dialing for me then. The rest is all the same.

That makes sense then, so do you have the highline with controls on the end of the wiper stalk?

only £300 near as dammit, oh and an apoligy to make, it is a skoda unit as when i pair up to my 2 Mobiles it comes up skoda UMD, but it really doesnt make any difference. VW dont sell it whereas Skoda do.Just realised My Huge Works Mobile works aswell on it, happy days!

Steve....

The unit is a VW one, BUT... the little bluetooth unit (ie the little black fragile tab) is the Skoda bit and hence reports itself to your phone as "Skoda UHV"

I think thats right anyway.

Post by: vRStu on 20 October 2008, 20:58
Glad you are getting to grips with it Steve. Yours is the 1Z Skoda unit that everyone else has, these offer good compatibility with the RNS510.

I've just done a brand new Pirelli this evening(it was collected from the dealers this afternoon and the owner let me loose on it), very nice looking car - First I've seen.

I'm out of stock on these at the moment but I have some more coming around the end of this week early next.

It does work out to a little over £300 as you'll need to add a few ££ for the connectors which you can buy from a VW dealer.

Obviously I've done a fair few now so I'm always looking for ways to perfect the installation.  Removing the clocks is just a little easier to get the wiring in.  I also only make two connections behind the radio now for the CAN.  Power is taken directly from the fuse panel.
