A drilled out airbox and a K+N panel filter in my old G60 sounded crazy. £1800 is very cheap if she`s a good un there was only 610 imported G40`s so a rare beast..

£1800 sounds very good value to me if its in decent shape.

My brother-in-law used to own one (Nige_S on here) so if he spots this thread he might have some decent advice.

And as for that one on youtube, I imagine that noise would get old very quickly on the motorway!!  Sounds great though.

Just to wet your appetite:

Awesome little motors, well worth 1800 if it's in good condition. Just check when the charger was last serviced. Should be done every 40k, if it's due you need to factor in that's gonna cost you a good £400 at somewhere like Gwerks.

Funnily enough I was just having a look on http://www.polog40.co.uk/ yesterday.  Ours was great fun and was really economical as well.  We bought it with 50k on the clock and sold it a 3 years later with over 100k and it was still putting out the numbers.  All we had to spend was have the charger rebuilt to stageII spec at Jabbasport, new front disc, cambelt and petrol tank along with regular stuff, all of which I did myself, except of course the charger.  The previous owner had it chipped by AMD and fitted rear brakes off a GTi, straightfoward swap but you need a custom handbrake cable, which I discovered when one side needed replacing.  We RR'd it at 135bhp before the charger rebuild so I guess 140bhp wasn't far off.  Some suspension parts are G40 specific and they can be hard on gearboxes, though we never needed one the previous owner went through 2 under warranty!  Keep on top of the charger and regular oils changes and I would've thought they'd do a fair few miles.  Watch for rust around the petrol tank, where the filler neck joins the main part of the tank.  They handle pretty well but wet traction is pants in 1st and a MKII Gti out handles them.  They just don't run out puff, it would accelerate to well over 130mph without hesitation.
