Title: Sound Deadening
Post by: k4ith on 18 October 2008, 15:11
The big strip out began today to locate the water ingress and check for anymore mushrooms or fungus(see other thread).
I did the obligatory search on here but nothing to help me so hence this post, what have you guys used under the carpets once your car is water tight. I have had to bin 95% of mine, the carpets should steam clean up good.

I had the exact same prob buddy...had to chuck everything.

I used eDead...just as good as dynamat but much cheaper, really easy to fit too

My friend swears by the underlay material that goes under roof tiles!
You can pick it up from BnQ

Mine's got a few sheets of newspaper under the carpeting...so not the most effective stuff for sound deadening, but I suppose it's lightweight!  (It's easy to work out the date that the previous owner did it lol)

I've been told that wickes/ builders mervhants etc do a self adhesive lead flashing roll and I went and checked, very very similar to dynamat stuff and a lot cheaper. The guys on talk audio seem to rate it so I know what I'll be trying when it comes round to it.

Surely the best place to get the proper stuff for the job would be auto upholsterer!

How much of that stuff would you need to cover say, front doors, back quarters, boot floor?
