Was working on the engine and found this just hanging loose:

Looks like the bracket has rusted away. Where is it meant to bolt on to and what's this part called? Or can I get around using it somehow?

bolts on to the exhaust manifold. the other end of the pipe goes to the airbox, its for hot air when running in the winter.
Ive never had a mk2 with one of these fitted (pipe usually dies) so cant say it make alot of difference personally.

made a hell of a difference running my driver a few winters ago, dont think the Gti models need it really

Just disconnect the hose, you dont need them on GTi's

block up the hole on the air box as well!

may as well pull the trumpet out the air box while your at it

and drill lots of holes into the wing side and front of the air box lower half :smiley:

dont botherd blocking the hole. Yep havnt noticed any diffrence without this pipe. Bolts over the zorst manifold as said.
my 8v digi doesnt have this trumpet thing in the airbox :huh:

both of mine had it. it protrudes from the airbox to the rear drivers headlamp back plate. with a bit of a tug it will come out make the hole in the front of airbox a lot bigger :smiley:

well it does go into the airbox by a few inches :huh:

Was picturing the bit where it connects to the headlamp case.
