Title: ***Pics and info on Edition30 plaques here***
Post by: Greenouse on 17 October 2008, 14:29
Illustrating size and look of plaque
(http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/Greenouse/plaque1.jpg)
Location of where plaque is to be positioned - base of A pillar on door trim
(http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/Greenouse/plaque2-1.jpg)

The plaques are now waiting for sign off by Managing Director of Volkswagen Group, which will hopefully be next week. They will then be distributed directly to owners.

That's all I know for now guys but will update as and when I know more!

Cheers,
Nathan

....

At last!! And I don't even have an Ed30!

Surely you can locate the plaques where you want rather than hidden like suggested!

They were also hidden on the mk4 anni, (or Edition 25 if you like ) and a very similar style plaque.. less chance of them being knocked off if you only see them when the door is open I guess.

Good work and thanks for the update Nath

Just as I saw your thread VW rang me again

They have said to me these will be posted to owners starting early November and the numbering will be based on the cars build date.

No probs mate, appreciate your efforts too as a few weeks ago (which I decided to keep to myself) they were saying nothing would be done until the New Year so I'd like to think our efforts/nagging/hassling has paid off!

I will still be pursuing VW on this subject (plus the whole Limited Edition 1500 vehicles point) and don't plan on just accepting the plaque after all this cr*p and very poor customer service.

I did a very big sex wee.

It's real, it's here, and I'd best get one. Who was running around with a list of ED30 owners and regs? Or did I just get a spam email and manage to send it out to a muppet?

Was gonna visit stealer today until I scratched my car last night. Now I don't think it's a good idea.

EDIT: I'm planning to hide mine (if I get one). The last thing I want is someone to break in, steal it and then use it on a knock-off "GTI30" to make it look legit.

those badges really look week don't they, after months of wait i was kind of expecting something a bit better maybe in aluminum or something, but that looks like something i could cut out of an oyster card and with a careful bit of stenciling reproduce quite easily

will have to wait and see until it is in hand but not impressed  :undecided:

I'd imagine it's somebody up in VW. It'd be abit embarrassing if you were head of VW and had an ED30 and it wasn't build 0001!!!

i reckon mines a low build number

Mine was a dealer Showroom Car that was given by VW to its 1st owner cus their White Standard GTi caught fire with a coil pack. They

admitted liabilty, and gave them Mine as a way of sayin sorry. Maybe 0030 may be coming home to Southampton!

i would love a better location, i.e ashtray cover, but VW have decided on that location and to be proper i guess we will have to follow it, i guess its no worse than the 25th plaque

Unless the main control unit has part number 1Z0 035 729 (and looks like the stuff on here - http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.html) then they are different kits.

The ones UK VW dealers will try to sell you is the built-in sun visor version

From what I understand the parts for Stu's kit from a UK dealer are around £270 + vat if you get a good trade discount. I know of a company who offer it fully fitted for £350 + VAT

the cars just been in for a service and when they opened the bonnet and seen the dbilas sat there they all stopped working and came over and had a look so the serv manager said. I think by fitting the plaque somewhere other than the recommended place devalues the point of the plaque even further.

If I was going to look at a limited edition car and saw two cars with the limited edition plaque stuck somewhere and then a third with it stuck somewhere else I would start asking questions.

I wish VW would have made it as part of a recall type process and standardised the fitting of them. But then I guess on the other hand its our cars are we can fit it where we want.

The plaques are now waiting for sign off by Managing Director of Volkswagen Group, which will hopefully be next week. They will then be distributed directly to owners.

That's all I know for now guys but will update as and when I know more!

Cheers,
Nathan

Just a quick question, where did the pictures come from?

think they started early 2007 (they wasn't available to order till after November 2006, so should be on an 06 plate), so could be on a 56 plate, im sure someone will be along to correct me soon though

Don't you know?  They're coming from Japan and that single plaque will provide a 100bhp increase as soon as you stick it on your car

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to my plaque - seems a little bit of pressure on VW has gone a long way.

I spent £300 on some of those stickers and saw a massive performance improvement with the car giving out 450+ bhp. Saved ££££s off if I had gone down the traditional remap route.

As I can't seem to find the thread about the letters people have received about the plaques and not actually receiving one myself, would someone that has received one mind posting up the number to ring please?

Sorry, but I really find this a bit of a farce - Special Edition plaques which are not fitted at the factory, sent DIY (or not, as the case may be), to be fitted in an inconspicuous location you can't see.

Someone look irony up in the dictionary please !

Cass

TBH I agree - it would have been better to have had it built-in somewhere on the car at the factory, like with some of the supercars.
