Title: Changing interior - Side Air bags?
Post by: billy_vw on 16 October 2008, 20:48
Im gonna fit Recaro's into the GT TDi ive just purchased.

My question is , do i have to be careful on removing front seats as they are fitted with Side airbags?

Any help appreciated

I'm sure there are some guides somewhere - I'd imagine disconnecting the battery first for 10-15 mins would be a good start! :afro:

yep - disconnect the battery and go make a cup of tea before doing anything

you'll avoid fault codes that :afro:

i assume the Recaro's you're fitting have side airbags??

you may also find the plugs are slightly different too

if they are from the same year of Golf then yes they should be - for some reason VW changed the style of plugs on the seats at some point  :undecided:

Ive yet to pick these up, but they have the same material pattern on both seats, so hope they do fit with no problems.

worst case is you have to solder new plugs onto the seats

let us know how you get on

Decided not to do this now.

On collection of the seats the looms were cut and there was wear on drivers seat.

The interior on my tdi is mint, so gonna keep it as it is for now
