First time I have drove a Mk5 (petrol model anyway) and I was very very impressed! I loved the noise, the drive everything. I was very surprised with its performance, it was quicker than I was expecting
Would love to get an edition 30 but don't really want to spend that much but will definitely be getting a GTI and then tweaking it, can't wait
Just need to get rid of my BMW now ....
-
You know it makes sence ! ;)
What colour you thinking of getting? What Bimmer you got a the moment? I like Bimmers me (almost got one instead of the MK5, shhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

Not too fussed about colour to be honest.
My BMW is a 330 d Sport is now in the for sale section!

Ohhh nice. I was looking at 328 - 330 Cis. I feel in love with some of them, lovely cars. But the MK5 won in the end.

Well if you loved that noise... just try taking out an R32 for a drive... it will blow your mind

Nah... never cured. The moment I set eyes on my new Ed30 and then looked back at the R32 where I'd left it sitting in the dealer forecourt, I had an uneasy feeling that I'd made a mistake. It was confirmed as soon as I started the Ed30 engine and proceeded to drive off. The Ed30 is a fantastic car - better than the R32 in many respects - but it just can't compete with that sound  In some ways I am glad I did part-ex the R32 because now its dropped in value like a stone and I am circling the autotrader at the moment looking to pick up one within a month and I will keep the Ed30 (the wife will drive it locally and keep the mileage down) and the R32

lol nah nah, thats just a reflection of the house behind me because I had just washed her and she was all shinney. Never looked at it like that lol

Right decisions decisions.
Is there a noticeable difference in performance between an Ed 30 and normal GTi, cos I loved the Ed 30 but dont want to spend £19k on one. So, think I will go for a normal GTI and do some subtle mods!
-
There's 30 horses more in the ED30.
Unless you remap the stock GTi. Then it'll feel and run better than the ED30. How much price difference are you looking at? Chances are a few addons + remap will be better in terms of price than paying for a more expensive car.

I have a cure for you Illyun, its called a Turbo back non resonated Milltek  I can confirm the sound is out of this world  And the beauty is when you want to cruise it's no different from standard.

Not really got a set budget but my needs are 5 doors and leather. If its got them I'm happy, i reckon I could get a good one for around £12k maybe less with some money for mods

Just need to get rid of my BMW now ....
ED30 is fantastic in all respects, but two:
1) Crazy rattling interior. I may be whinig, but it is DAMN SHAME such a nice car has such low quality fit inside.
2) With 300 hp 1st and 2nd gear are almost useless, especially in wet.

1.Not all Golf 5's rattle, mines fine, you must have a friday afternoon build.
2. You take that chance when you try and put 300hp through a pair of front tires on a FWD car.The car wasnt built for 300 hp. Its moddified!

I agree with the second point there. I was not so much complaining as contemplating on what the next car would be like. It is obvious now that I cannot go below 300bhp :nerd:, so RWD or more likely 4x4 will be in the next car. Also, I'll try to find a car that I can mod, as it is huge fun to do.
As for interior, you may be very lucky! God on you! Mine rattles all over though.
-
I have never had any rattles from my interior yet

Get over here and drive mine, you'll get my point

So has the remap made the rattles any worse??? or does it just rattle what ever you do??
I certainly dont have any rattles from mine and everything seems to be screwed/glued together quite well.. but then the R32 does feel more planted than the Gti.
-
mine doesnt have any rattles either

remap soothes the psychological pain from rattling, in fact.
It rattles especially when it is cold, I guess plastic contracts.
I have "rattly" dashboard now, have to fix it. Back seat rattles, sometimes doors rattle. Once in a while "moonroof" rattles when opened...

i know its not warm here, but perhaps its colder there so the plastic is less flexible when cold

Is it definately rattles?? not creaks n sweeks?? I had a problem with creeking when I got mine but that was just the door seals rubbing... easily solved with the oil/lubricant thats used for the same problem in the eos

I've seen 6 degrees in the morning the other day. Usually it is 9 degrees at 8 in the morning. The car flies in these temps though!

creeks, sweeks and rattles, I have the full bag. Vibrations in the dashboard ( in that plastic thing uptop in the middle) sometimes when driving off from green light is especially   :lipsrsealed:
-
^ Thats a shame mate! Im sure the remap is helping take your mind off things though. Maybe its worth taking things apart yourself and seeing if you can tighten/replace any of the loose screws. Whats the worst that can happen!
