Title: Motor aerial for Mk2?
Post by: Royalblue on 15 October 2008, 23:33
Can anyone recommend an electrical motor aerial for a Mk2, ie. for fitting on the wing as replacement of the original aerial?

I got a universal type one and it fitted well, but it died after 6months or so!  My recommendation is to get a quality one, might cost a bit more but it'll last.

GSF seem to have one by Beru around 30 quid.
Blaupunkt seem to manufacture some, too, which might be a good brand apart from Bosch.
I don't even know a good shop for this kind of thing... :undecided:

I tried to replace my manual one which had died with an electric one. I searched all over including ECP and GSF and loads of web sites. Even ordered one but this and all the others were too large for the hole in the wing - on mine it is only 18 mm and all the ones I found were minimum 22 mm. I wasn't brave enough to open the existing hole out and actually there is not that much space on the wing to do that. So I went back to a manual. If you do find a decent 'small hole' electric aerial please post on here where you got it from.

Good luck!!
