You can get all previous owner history from the DVLA so long as you are the current registered owner. There is a small charge, £15 ish, go on the DVLA website and it tells you how to go about getting it. It takes a while but they send you copies of all the old V5, I did it with my H reg 16v, best not to try and contact previous owners though as you may get a shock. I wrote to one and he had died...oops. You can get all prevoius MOT info from when they introduced the new style certs if you have the current mot certificate & vin etc if you go on the VOSA website there is a search facility, its free, you can get some check on the mileage from this. Also you can do an RAC car data check for about a fiver, this will give some previous info on registration plate changes, mileage etc. If you have a local friendly VW dealer you could get them to search their system for service records on the reg but not sure how far back it goes & no good if never serviced by a vw dealer.

It depends why you want it's history.

Unless it's to verify how many owners the car's had then I think it's a waste of time..... just my opinion though.

Dont think DVLA do that anymore something to do with privacy, i did it a few years back for a Fiver sent info on all previous owners etc but under the impression its now not avaliable,if it is though any Info would be useful as i want to do the same thing.

I think you're right. It was in the 'freedom of information' section, but it looks like they've tightened up on the eligible reasons for release of the information. It doesn't specifically exclude enquiries for history though so it might be worth a phone call to see if you have a chance. I did my search late in 2005......... :undecided:

service history means nothing on old cars,   if it's been sericed at a garage or on someones drive chances are somewhere allong the line a muppet has been involved anyway.

but if you really want somoe service history,  i chould sell you some from my last few golfs they came with a bloody forest
