Title: End of Warranty / MOT dilemna
Post by: Wolfie on 14 October 2008, 14:04
My car is 3 years old at the end of November. Also I'm gonna need an MOT from that date  - my dilemna is I also have some warranty issues (rattles, rear window wiper with a mind of its own and a seat that never wants to return to original position when moved!) do I book the car into VW to have the MOT done as the same time as the warranty work? Or do I take the car to a specialist and get the MOT done there and also get them to check the car over for any other warranty issues I can get resolved before it expires.

Any help/suggestions from people who have been there so to speak would be greatly appreciated!

My advice would be always take your car for its MOT to a MOT station only, That way if it aint broke then it wont need fixing. Then i would find a friendly dealer and get your warranty stuff done and if they are any good they should go over the whole car for you. and then you and the dealer are on a win win

Absolutely...just had the same dilemma myself...went to autocentres..they, through the sunday times were doing a half price mot (£26.50)...got great independent advice and took it to the stealership...at least i know that the stealer didn't pile up issues out of warranty for me to pay for......got a sump washer replaced and various other things checked as a result of that independent mot...

Not that this will come as news to anyone on this forum.....there are a few unscrupulous dealers out there you know....
