whats the best way to find out if the clutch is worn on my mk4 1.8 non :undecided: turbo its quite high bites 2inch ish from the top its just become a bit jumpy latey and hill starts are a bit of a pain. and wheres best to get replacement parts from can i just go to a local motor factors and get one from there or am i best getting vw parts and what bearings ect would i benifit changing i dont mind spending a bit extra to do a proper job thnks for any info

You will need to replace your dual mass flywheel when you do the clutch - £350 + clutch approx £100 + fit :shocked:
Unless you do this and ditch the rubbish dualmass flywheel : :wink:

Put it in 5th at 30 & floor it. If the revs rise up & drop down a bit before you get very far, then the clutch is worn.
The best cost effective replacement for the 1.8T is the VR6/G60 combo, but I don't know if that fits your car? :undecided:

I think it fits all 5 speed models dont quote me tho :undecided:

thanks for your help and info you 2 i did the 30mph into 5th today and it seams ok it just picked up speed slowly so it should be ok for a bit i think. the funds will be going on a milltech in the mean time :evil:

Keep an close eye on it and drive it careful if you want it to last. My clutch was a bit high then it just started to slip very badly when on a hill or under load.

That was not the kind of slipping I was thinking of!! :grin: I meant slipping as when you floor it, the revs rise as if you've dipped the clutch pedal (but you haven't actually gone anywhere near the clutch pedal).
