Title: 1.8Turbo - misfire under acceleration?
Post by: Cosworth Lee on 11 October 2008, 22:09
Hi my mates just bought a 2001 1.8T GTI.

when the engine is at full operating temp, and under load there is a misfire?

First thoughts are the coil (think there is one for each plug?) or even the plugs or leads them selves?

Just wondered if anyone has experienced similar things or has any ideas?

thanks.

Get it on vag com or a code reader to find out for sure.
Could be a number of things temp sender,Lamber sensor, Coil packs as you said very common.

If there are no fault codes  99% it will be the MAF sensor.

+1

Try genuine coil packs which cost areund £30 each, the cheap copies are pants.  Geniune bosch reburb MAF around £80 which includes a £25 surcharge.
