Title: Turbo whistle.
Post by: Spurgey on 11 October 2008, 21:25: I'm looking to get a 1.8 GTi Mk IV as a second car. Took two out today one (57K)had a noticable but not particularly loud whistle which I assumed was usual. The next a newer 180bhp (95K) that I tried didn't. What's usual? Anything to worry about the other one which in every other respect was pristine (loads of receipts, cambelt + tensioner done) indicating a well loved car - cleaner than my Mk V!!.

I've scanned the topics but didn't really find anything too useful - anyone help?

was it doing when warm?

Post by: big_el on 13 October 2008, 21:27: mine whistles and i was worried so i put a post up and the lads just said it was fine, the nice sound of the turbo spooling up apprentley mate.
