Oil is leaking from the cam chain cover on the right side of the engine, dripping on to the gearbox then on to the drive. Not silly amounts, but enough for me to be concerned. What I would like to know is, If the PCV fails can oil be blown out of other areas of the crankcase or just the oil filler cap. I think it is the PCV because of a slight drop in performance.
Any help would be bob on.

you don't have a cam chain

you don't have a cam chain
Not the timing belt side of the engine. The right hand side of the engine where the chain drives the 2 cams

Anyone? What are your thoughts to the PCV idea?

on the mk4 golfs when the pcv become faulty it would log a fault in the engine ecu. try and get a code reader and check the car before assuming that is the problem chances are they aint cheap also have you check cam cover gasket and surrounding area for oil leaks ?
