Title: transmission from tdi to abf?

hi :)

i would like to get shorter gears, so better acceleration.. i have transmission from tdi, does it fit abf? 1z code of machine...

and also, if i try, should i tako off flywheel from tdi or just everything but the flywheel, because tommorow is saturday and i'm going to try it :)

I cant see the tdi gearbox making much difference tbh! And im sure the clutch would need to be changed.

I have a mk2 1.8 box on my mk3 gti and that made a noticeable difference but i needed a complete new clutch in order for it to fit.

Isnt the diesel the opposite?  has longer ratios for a stronger lower power output?    you want to bodge a 1.4 box on it  :grin: thats pretty impossible and it would smash into shards but wow imagen the acceleration,  would top out at 80 tho  :grin:

Anyway im not being helpfull...  i would like to know if the clutch is the same on the derv as the abf,  its the same box and the derv has alot of torque so mabey it is?

i ment to do it because clutch and all inside was broken.. ball bearing fall apart and broke all other... but we did it... we took clutch, pressure plate and ball bearing from tdi and put it to Abf, and it's rolling :)  :evil: :evil: :evil:
