Title: Quick question...
Post by: Winso on 10 October 2008, 10:53
I usually park my car in a private space in a courtyard behind my house. I think in terms of insurance this counts as a private driveway as its totally off the road (no where near it actually). Sometimes though I have to park on the road, probably about one night a week. When insuring the car should I put it down as being on a driveway at night or on the road? Road costs me a fair bit more so I’d rather go with driveway. With my luck though I just know if someone nicks it it will be the night its parked on the road. Where would I stand in terms of making a claim if its insured to be kept on the drive but gets stolen from the road?

Ring your insurer and check, and get it in writing. The increased premium is also to protect you against joyriders hitting your car in the night and buggering off.
