Hey you all! I just finished re-calibrating the compass, but it is still not accurate, the only other thing I need to do is adjust the zone but the manual does not specify what number to input depending on your region of the world. Any ideas?
-
You lost me right at the start. I also have no idea where you are going.
-
is this on your sat nav
-
I live in Mexico, down here the NAV option is not available. I only have the compass on the MFI (instrument cluster), but it is not igving an accurate reading. If you access the configuration for the compass on the MFI you have 2 options, wither re-calibrate (which I did) and input a number (depending on your region of the world). The manual does not have a table for the corresponding number for each region. This is what I need.

Npalao- Are you sure you have a GTi?
I remember reading something about this on a Tuareg forum. I dont mean to offend you if I am wrong.
This is a UK based forum so unless TT or some of our other members know what you are reffering to might I suggest you make a post on VWVortex? They are american based and have more knowledge about their own products.

Mike is correct this is something which is not fitted to UK cars, the only compass we get is the one from the GPS of the sat nav.
I believe some US spec Golf's (like a lot of american cars) have a seperate Compass.

Yup, correct. Actually - pedant mode, it is generally "North American" market cars. Audi put them in the rear view mirror, and to be honest, they look
I have the compass in my DIS on the RS4, but I find it useless and destracting, so I turned it off. I think the one in the MFD2 in the Golf is quite cool, though I always forget to use that one!

Yup. Probably better than the Vortex. :smug:  At least any chaff is mk5 related!

whats actually wrong with it ?, i.e what was it doing wrong ?

That is the compass I am talking about. The position which the car is supposedly pointing is not the correct one, the reading is wrong. This is due to a ZONE which can be configured in the MFI. I have not been able to find a table which relates the numbers VW uses to the zones in the world, it is not in my users manual.

I have seen that "zone map" somewhere. :undecided: I'll have a shufty. I take it all of Mexico will just be in the one zone?
