Title: Deflectors
Post by: Hurdy on 07 October 2008, 17:15
Well, Autumn and Winter are here/coming and I am truly getting fed up with opening the window and getting covered in rain off the car

Seriously considering some of these:-

http://www.palmautomotive.co.uk/4trucks/acatalog/VW_Golf_Plus_05_03-on__wind_deflectors.html

They look good quality and are even fitted on the OSIR R32 demo car. Smoked colour and so should fit with the colour scheme. Under £70 for the front and rears on my 5 door, so if they are crap I can simply flog them on!

Naff or okay?

I bet the guys at JKM wish MKVs had them - they kept on having to wipe the roof and edge of the window to stop the dripping.

Just keep the window shut until the water has run off the roof!
Always remind me of old men driving years ago those wind deflectors, or cab drivers in Turkey!!

Yes, I know they have the faint whiff of caravan driver/old geezer about them, but I'm simply p1ssed off at getting covered in water everytime I get a ticket at the local carpark or enter my password number into the firms gate access/egress

Strewth, the hound in that picture really shouldn't roll down her tinted windows without broadcasting a fright warning beforehand.  Iv'e just gone right off my sticky buns!

Seriously, they look alright, but will the smoke colour go well with silver?

LOL, she did put me off for a minute there too

I think the smoke would be okay, Steel Grey is an obvious match, but with the paintwork I'm going to do, it should be fine

not sure on the deflectors TBH, but that woman looks like she is about to have a dump or sumit with the expression on her face!

i tend to use a microfibre towel in the winter and just run it across the top before i set off!

Get a better pic of the one on the left - and I bet you would too!  :lipsrsealed:

And I reckon she is younger than me too, so HTF could I be a MILF?  :smug:

Don't ever remember seeing her when I was in Alaska a few years back.  Was even in her home town of Wasilla too!

EDIT:  I may be away for some time whilst I have a shuffle over these pics:  :embarassed:

What, when you have a dump - bit of a waste - or do you wash them and reuse?

Here's a picture of my wind deflectors:
Some people don't like the look, but personally I do. Never getting soaked ever time it rains is a godsend in Ireland too . It's fantastic to be able to lower the window a bit without getting everything wet. When I bought them I also got a set for the rear windows and although they work they look completely stupid, so I took them off.

That actually looks quite good on yours.  Maybe they suit the darker colours better.

They dont actually look too bad there tbh. Still not enough to convince me to get some but they certainly dont stand out. How easy are they to fit and remove???

T_T i got to say either your very old or im very young.. but that bird is a minger no matter how you look at her!!

I think they just shove up into the window seal.

My SWMBO actually looks similar to Sarah Palin.  I've actually just posted a pic of her somewhere else on the forum.

Yep that's it. It seems to be designed to keep itself up there. As for removing, just bend out a little in the right spot and it pops out nice and easy .

I would only buy the deflectors if the rest of my interior mods were the same as TT's.  :smug:

One issue I've heard of with these wind-deflectors is that it can cause extra strain on the electric-window motors, (causing premature wear and/or failure) as you've obviously made the window runners much tighter near the top!

They are horrendous.  My father in law had them, and they were agony.  One day I snipped the buggers off!

Don't know where you heard that, but it is nonsence.  The leccy window motors actually have an "override" function for that very purpose.
