Was thinking of getting the Milltek exhaust system put on to my edition 30, but does this void my warrenty?
Also what other mods void your warrenty?
remaps?
intercoolers?
ect?
-
They only void that actual bit of the warranty and whatever can be associated with it, oh and also probably the huge grey area, they will tell you your sun roof failed because your exhaust was to hot.
-
^^^ Yep it's a big grey area and will probably vary dealer to dealer as well.
Mine are happy about remaps and exhaust's and have offered to supply and fit a milltek
-
Not many genuine bits left on mine :lipsrsealed:
Varies soooo much, you'd be better asking the dealer outright and holding them to it

letting Hurdy getting his hands on it

when mine went for service , they were all pretty impressed with my car , as long as all been done professionally they have no problems

I have found that if you want anything doing under warranty with no questions asked, just say that you have been discussing the problem on this forum first.

Which stealer do you use - Cookes or KL VW?

x2
My VW dealer asked me which tuner when I discussed my intentions and when I said Revo, they said no problem.
The law is such that an aftermarket component has to be proved to be the direct cause of an issue for the vehicle manufacturer/agent to refuse to solve it under warranty. However, in reality, you would probably/possibly find yourself paying for the work first and then receiving recompense later (or not, as each case may be).
Regarding Milltek, it's supplied with a 'lifetime' guarantee meaning that as the original purchaser your Milltek is covered for the whole lifetime of your ownership. As the Milltek is both stainless steel and also a performance mod, and makes wonderful zorst music, isn't it a no-brainer? (as long as you have the money available).
Similarly with Revo (for example). That's why if I have a problem I'm really not worried - I have the peace of mind to know I'll be looked after. I speak from direct experience.

I also have this dilema with respect to voiding a warranty upon adding mods. I asked all my local dealerships (including the one i bought the car off) and they all said no chance - will void warranty. One dealership also added "we have enough problems with the gti as it is, let alone remaps"
Which dealerships out there allow these kind of mods without voiding the warranty?

.... Didn't you read in this thread what I bothered to post about direct cause!!?
Search for a thread where SteveP mentions that his VW dealer supplied his car a Richter remap.

KL, but stealer is the right choice of words there, but they are friendly and they have always looked after me.

Ahh, they may be friendly, but they are fairly incompetent. And as for Steve "who ate all the pies" - well don't get me started on him.
They seriously went down hill after Brundle sold them. Go round the corner to the Audi garage, and have a chat with the very nice Fiona though!
